1 Year Anniversary!
It has officially been one year since our book Women Driven Mobility: Rethinking the Way the World Moves was delivered to the brilliant, curious, and revolutionary community-members like you! Since then we have sold hundreds of books, have been guests on podcasts, and taken international stages to address intersectional equity’s role in the mobility ecosystem. We also hosted workshops, book signings, launched a mobility leadership directory, and we (finally) met with some of the book’s featured experts in real life!
It’s been a busy year to say the least.
Many people have asked us about what is next. And we’ve been unintentionally vague.
After completing Women Driven Mobility, we wanted to make sure we spent the time appreciating the achievement of actually researching and writing our first book. In the spirit of the book, the speed of progress is urgent but requires patience, so we have spent the past year fostering our connections, supporting others, and holding space to recharge. Most importantly, we wanted to make sure we prioritized balance in our own personal and professional lives after going through the shared pandemic trauma, lifting up the work of others through the book, and working towards our own career goals. We knew this time was critical in order to be intentional on where the next chapter for Katelyn and Kristin would start.
The truth is: we loved the book writing process together and we can’t wait to do it again.
It’s on this milestone, that we are excited to share that we have been also been working quietly in the background and are announcing our next project: book #2! We will be waiting to release the title as we finalize details and content but we are excited to share that it will be set locally, in our Great Lakes State—Michigan.
It has been more than a century since Michigan innovators revolutionized travel with the automobile, and our home state is once again reimagining how we move about in our lives by air, land, and sea. It will chronicle projects, people, and communities that have reinvisioned what mobility looks like and have developed safer, more efficient, more sustainable, and more equitable transportation options. We are also excited to include stories about where there is still room to grow, and focus on some of the biggest opportunities that sit beside innovation.
Along with this new book, we’ll be bringing on new partners and initiatives that we’ll share more about in the near future. This does not mean that we are abandoning our work in gender equity, we are simply expanding across the mobility sector in ways that continue to push innovative thinking, safer experiences, and will lead us into a just and carbon-free future.
For now, we want to thank you for your continued support and we can’t wait to expand our work, provide updates on our previously highlighted projects, and grow our table to include more industry voices.
