[SAE World Congress] Supporting Diversity in STEM—from Today's Classroom to Tomorrow's Workforce

This session will focus on facilitating a thoughtful and thought-provoking conversation that explores how cultivating a culture of DEI&B—in school and in the workplace—is essential to developing the skillsets and mindsets students will need to succeed in future STEM fields.

Moderator

  • Cheryl Thompson, Founder and CEO of the Center for Automotive Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement. CADIA supports Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Automotive Industry by providing professional development for individuals, along with resources, programs and tools that drive organizational evolution.

Panelists

  • Victoria Thompson (tentative), STEM coach, education in technology consultant, and former math teacher with a passion for using technology to innovate teaching, learning and pedagogy through an anti-racist lens. Recently named one of EdTech Magazine’s top 30 IT Influencers to follow in the world.

  • Andre Daughty, Educational consultant and former teacher. Andre enjoys inspiring teachers, encouraging students, conversing with parents, and sharing with leaders, making an impact in schools around the country. He continues to inspire students during assemblies, conduct parenting seminars, deliver professional development and conference keynotes to educators and organizations nationwide. Andre’s passion for excellence in education is felt through his energy and delivery.

  • Katelyn Davis, Coauthor of Women Driven Mobility, mobility Storyteller, helping automotive and transportation innovators tell their story to the world. Named one of Detroit’s 30 in Their Thirties in Dbusiness. Katelyn is an experienced panelist including appearances as SXSW to discuss mobility equity.  Let me know if you’d like to make any revisions

  • Rebecca Vollman, Engineer – ABB/B&R Industrial Automation, graduated from University of Central Florida with a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 2021. She will be receiving the Rumbaugh Outstanding Student Leader Award at WCX.
